Early Childhood Educators’ Professional Development Update

The Quality Child Care Coalition is offering a number of PaKey sponsored events in Bucks County this year with the support of the North East Regional Key.   Visit  www.pakeys.org to register and for additional  professional development opportunities as they are posted. Remember to check offerings outside of Bucks County, too, especially if you live near Philadelphia, Montgomery, or Northampton counties.  If you have a request for something you can't find, send it to pmiiller@earthlink.net.

The North East Regional Key is also planning additional activities to meet needs for Keystone STARS here in Bucks.  Visit www.pakeys.org and www.cscinc.org. Visit www.pakeys.org  to learn about  our growing early childhood system here in Pennsylvania and for professional development opportunities on the PD Calendar.  Check the Calendar periodically for additional professional development opportunities in our area.  Pre-register on-line so that events are not canceled.  Remember to send a check or money order in advance so that you receive your certificate and credit at the time of the workshop.

The Bucks County Intermediate Unit is planning exciting full-day Tender Bridges workshops each year. Register at www.bucksiu.org.

The Bucks County Association for the Education of Young Children supports numerous professional development opportunities.  The annual BCAEYC Conference at Bucks County Community College is held on the first Saturday in October. Visit www.bcaeyc.org to learn more.

Advocacy is part of professionalism.  The Annual BCAEYC Advocacy Breakfast launches the Week of the Young Child and is part of the Annual Bucks County Month of the Young Child Celebration in April.   If you and your program wish to become more involved, contact Pat Miiller at pmiiller@earthlink.net or call her at 215-806-2802.  Reflect on your needs and set goals for yourself in the year ahead.  Look for opportunities to build your knowledge and skills so that you grow professionally in creating environments and experiences that foster quality early learning.  Enjoy growing and learning in the coming months and years!
