April is Bucks County’s Month of the Young Child
Each April, QCCC and other community organizations celebrate the Month of the Young Child (MOYC). MOYC is based upon the National Association of the Education of Young Children’s Week of the Young Child. The Week of the Young Child (WOYC) is an annual celebration sponsored by NAEYC to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families, and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
NAEYC first established the Week of the Young Child in 1971, recognizing that the early childhood years are those that lay the foundation for children’s success in school and later in life. WOYC is a time to plan how we—as citizens of a community, of a state, and of a nation—will better meet the needs of all young children and their families.
Here in Bucks County, we have expanded WOYC to a full month of activities and celebrations focusing on Early Childhood Education, Healthy Kids, Literacy, and Parenting. Numerous events are held throughout the month involving parents and caregivers, child care programs, preschools, libraries and other community organizations all working to celebrate our children and to remind us that they are our future.
Early Years are Learning Years. We hope that you will join us for one or more of the many events planned throughout the month in honor of our children. QCCC is again partnering with the Bucks County Free Libraries to host Family Open Houses and with the Bucks County Association for the Education of Young Children as well. Below is our message box. To request a full calendar of events for April and our Family Open House flyers, please e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org after mid-March.
